About

Moved by the unnecessary suffering of pregnant and postpartum women, I studied postpartum illness at the highly-regarded Postpartum Stress Center in Bryn Mawr where I received my initial maternal mental health certificate in Postpartum Stress.   I have continued my focus on women’s issues throughout my career and have a particular specialty with helping mothers experiencing a loss of identity, rage, depression, anxiety and grief.  I am also skilled in supporting men who need a calm and focused place of their own to sort through their relationships, depression/anxiety and the unique stresses of fatherhood.  Continued education is very important to me, and over the last 8 years, I've invested extra time and cost into advanced psychotherapy training, including object relations, AEDP and psycho-analytically informed therapy from numerous mentors, supervisors and professional institutes.

My style is warm, attuned and very present.  I'm going to be very interested in not only the details of your story, but how you tell it. I’ve come to learn that words are often not enough to describe our most powerful feelings and it is in embodied experience of those feelings with a trusted person that relief and change take place.   I often gently integrate mind-body/ somatic interventions to help you get better in touch with yourself and the signals your body is quietly sending you.   Don't worry if you haven't done this before or felt awkward trying mindfulness in the past.  The best way to learn these skills is to try them together in session, a little at time....and I promise that you won't be alone. True mindfulness is messy and you don't need to look cool or calm doing it!  I will fumble right along with you (we may even share a laugh or two!) while we learn.

Clients often tell me that our work together feels distinctly different than the therapy they have received before.  I think that this is because the therapy I'm trained in is firmly grounded in getting to heart of things, little by little, together.  Our work will move us closer to certain truths that live inside that need to be known and understood.  No matter what, I always carefully tailor therapy interventions to you- your unique needs, your specific circumstances and what you want to see change.  My goal is that my clients feel my unwavering dedication every step of the way.

I take my role in your journey very seriously, although I do try not to take myself too seriously!   A lover of the arts, in my rare spare time I can be found singing, dancing, reading and listening to podcasts. I'm also a proud imperfect mother right in the thick of parenthood, passionately loving her people and making mistakes every single day.
